    Hi guys,

    i haven’t looked at my customers site for a while, but i now found out the menu items lists are a bit of a mess. the author and a timestamp are now mentioned with each menu item and also some pics have been lost (while they are visible on each individual menu item page). eg on this page, a list of items is stated: http://asianroadibiza.com/food/ NOte the timestamp and the author being stated. also no pics.

    and then scroll down on this page (a menu item), where you can see just this particular (random) menu item. note the flags and the layout of how it is supposed to be in contrary with the menu item list, which lacks the flags and layout (and has the author and timestamp noted).

    This must have happened because of recent updates (restaurant press or other plugin/wordpress updates that apparently don’t work well together. I’m running WordPress 4.9.1. Can you please have a look at what has happened here ?

    Hi jeff,

    It seems you are using the menu plugin in a different way than how we instruct it in our docs. Once you create different menu items. You need to create groups. For more detail please have a look here in our docs https://docs.wpeverest.com/docs/restaurantpress/restaurantpress/how-to-set-up-groups/

    Once you create the group you can show the group on your page or post using shortcode. Please follow this doc for this https://docs.wpeverest.com/docs/restaurantpress/restaurantpress/how-to-show-menu-on-post-and-page/

    If you are still having an issue then please do let us know.

    Hi Rabin,

    Thanks for your reply, but tbh i don’t find your answer useful in the slightest. I am using groups and am using the short codes on my pages, eg:

    [restaurantpress_menu id=”971″ orderby=”menu_order” order=”DESC”]

    group entry (sorry can’t attach any files to this forum)
    Starters
    Edit | Trash
    971 Starters

    Apart form the assumption i wasn’t using groups, the point is, ofcourse, that it was working previously, no matter how i did it, and now it isn’t. if i followed your instructions incorrectly previously it should have looked like rubbish from the start, which it didn’t. it looked great, even with my little flags on the food page, like on each menu items page.

    so, somewhere in time between i made it (and was working fine) and the last time i looked at it (2 weeks ago), something happened which made things go peer shaped. my questions to you are: do you know what caused it, and ofcourse, do you see a way to fix it, that is, make the menu items appear as they should (with flags) in the menu items overview pages (by using the shortcode on the overview pages) 😉

    one other thing, looking at the configuration of a group, i cannot see any possibility to opt out for the presence of the author name and timestamp, so how do i get rid of it ? I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there when i made the groups.

    thanks for your time.

    cheers,
    jeff

    Hello Jeff,

    You might have changed the theme in your time gap. By default, most WordPress themes display a set of meta data on published blog posts. You can remove by it by adding CSS in Your Theme Customizer.

    .blog-post-title p {
        display: none;
    }

    Apply the css with caution, might effect other information too.

    Regarding the second question, we could not quite figure out the issue. You don’t seem to wrap the menu items in a category to create a group. Layouts is available for groups only not for single menu item.

    If you are still facing the issue, could you please provide the temporary login credentials so we can look at it? Thank You!

    Hi Sanjeev,

    thanks for looking into my issues. I seem to have found a way round my issue. The description i had in the top description box was not presented as it should have, but putting that description in the ‘short description’ part fixed it. Does mean however that every menu item has to be edited, which is a lot of work…. not exactly nice, but it can be fixed. btw, your css addition worked for removing the author and timestamp. all in all i can fix it back to normal with some hours of work 😐 Would have been nice if updates would have been backwards compatible 😉

    cheers,
    jeff

    Hi Jeff,

    You said you are using the group shortcode. Can you provide us the page link where you have used the group shortcode. Because I couldn’t find the page in your site that seems to be using the shortcode. This link http://asianroadibiza.com/food/ is obviously not using the shortcode it’s an archive page which is rendered using theme template, not our plugin. Because our theme don’t yet have the design for archive. We may introduce it in our future updates. If you have used our shortcode in any page then your menu item would align like shown in our demo http://demo.wpeverest.com/restaurantpress/ (either one column, two column or grid) but it doesn’t look so.

    We are working on to make food category page for e.g http://asianroadibiza.com/food-category/main-course-curry/ to match with one of our design layouts as shown in our demo.

    Hi Rabin,

    Also thanks for looking in to this. I have an idea that it has to do with the combination of software i’m using, which is Asia Wok theme (which includes some kind of menu item structure, which i disabled and have installed restaurant press for) and WP Bakery Page Builder. I’m not yet sure which plugin is responsible for which part of the problem, so installed restaurant press plugin on a basic site i manage and will try some things out.

    cheers,
    jeff
